This one-day conference will offer two options, a "Writer Focus" and

Winter Critique Meet Weekend of March 11-12, 2012 Locations around Michigan
New to SCBWI-MI! Coming this winter,
a chance to meet up with fellow writers and illustrators to discuss each other's work in a supportive, professional environment.
There's no cost to participate in Critique Meet, except for your time! The size of each group will determine
how each location will be run. A large group may have an open-mike type of set-up, while smaller groups may have each participant

Shutta's Summer Schmooze August

be held Sunday, August 14 from 2 pm to 5 pm. It's free! Just bring a dish to pass, something to share with the group about
your writing/books, and, if you can, a new (or like new) book to donate to the Marin County Library in Kentucky. For more

Bring a munchie to pass, anything you want to share (an f & g, art, new book, announcement, etc.), freebies you’d

February 6, 2010 Intensive Illustrator Workshop with Matt Faulkner If you're like most people, your New Year's resolution
has something to do with getting back in shape. And like most people, you probably need a little nudge. Join SCBWI-MI for
our upcoming Picture Book Illustration Workshop with Matt Faulkner on Saturday, February 6, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the
Orion Township Library in Lake Orion, MI. Open to intermediate to advanced illustrators, this workshop will focus on exercising
creativity, toning up your editing expertise, and stretching your self-promotion options. Work with Matt, your own personal
trainer, to strengthen your skills and add power to your illustrations. Matt Faulkner is the illustrator of many acclaimed picture books and currently teaches illustration
at the Art Academy University in San Francisco. The cost of the workshop is $80, which includes lunch. Session prerequisite:
